Scott Lawlor is a popular local yoga teacher who has lived on the Outer Banks since 1996. He has a presence and energy that fills up a room with light, love and a passion for life. He never expected to be diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the throat and neck in October 2022.
With four children and two businesses to take care of, Scott was in need of assistance. He is the co-owner of Kind Yoga Studio in Kill Devil Hills and owns Hattie’s Wholesale Produce as well. Both businesses were adversely impacted during the pandemic, and Scott had recently gotten a loan modification to save his home and avoid foreclosure. Therefore, it was extremely important that he made his mortgage payments on time.
Luckily, Scott knew about the Outer Banks Relief Foundation and Cancer Services at Interfaith Community Outreach. He was able to get the help he needed and stay current on his household bills.
The assistance he received enabled him to focus on his appointments, his surgeries, and his family. In his words…
“The Relief Foundation and Interfaith Community Outreach brought light and hope during a challenging season. The staff of both organizations were incredibly kind and encouraging.”
Scott reflected,
“I am in love with being alive, and going through this journey has deepened my gratitude for each breath of every day and the wonderful community I’m surrounded by.”
