2017 ICO CANCER OUTREACH CHAMPION: DEB MACDONALD

ICO Cancer Outreach Champion - Deb MacDonaldWhen you think of the Outer Banks Relief Foundation you immediately think of Deb MacDonald. ICO partners with the OBRF on many cases that reflect all aspects of the OBRF mission of assisting individuals on the Outer Banks who have been diagnosed with a debilitating disease. Deb rarely says “No” unless there is absolutely no way she can sell a case to her Board. She deals with clients with compassion and honest love. Deb MacDonald is one of the hardest working women we know, therefore, it is our pleasure to present her with the 2017 ICO Champion Award.

2017 ICO BUSINESS PARTNER OF THE YEAR: DOMINION ENERGY

ICO Community Awards - Dominion EnergyDominion Energy is not just a Business Donor: they have sponsored events, and given annual grants. Not only have they contributed financially, their staff has been volunteering their time as intake volunteers, helping with fundraisers and other community projects. Over the years this relationship has grown to an amazing partnership. It has been a wonderful journey working with this business. ICO would like to present their Business Partner of the Year Award to Pam Pekrun, Dominion Energy North Carolina External Affairs Manager with Dominion Energy Services, Inc. for her commitment to serving the poor on the Outer Banks.

2017 ICO FUNDRAISER(S) OF THE YEAR: LOU WILLIAMS, SCOTT CHESSON & BRIAN KNOWLES

ICO Community Awards - Fundraisers of the YearPicture this … Big Lou and Mini-Me Scott dressed alike in make-up, dresses, wigs, flip flops decorated with rhinestones and flowers … and Brian going around to anyone who would listen and put money in his bucket! This is what you would have been able to see if you had been at the 2018 Womanless Beauty Pageant! These men went completely out of their “box” to raise money for ICO. They agreed immediately when we went to them and asked if they would help us.

On a serious side, these men are all heroes in our eyes and the eyes of all those who lose electric in a storm: they are out there in the middle of the storm or hurricane working to reconnect electricity. For the ICO fundraiser, they also went the extra mile and gave of their time, raised a lot of money before the event by selling tickets and solicited many donations. Dominion Energy and all of us are so fortunate to have these three dedicated men in our community.
